Fulham boss Silva eager to challenge for second straight win

Marco Silva discusses the results of the last two games ahead of the Tottenham Hotspur match.

Fulham will host Tottenham Hotspur in the ninth round of the 2023-24 Premier League (PL) season at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England, on April 24 at 4 p.m. ET. Fulham are 12th in the table with three wins, two draws and three losses (11 points), while Tottenham are second with six wins and two draws (20 points).

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Silva said: “We respect Tottenham, but we look forward to the game with confidence and belief in ourselves. Tottenham have had an incredible start to the season. They are at the top of the league and it’s clear why,” he said, applauding Spurs’ early season form.

“It’s not just about the results. Of course they had to get results to be where they are, but the way they’ve been getting results is really good. We have to give them credit.”

But there was also confidence. Silva said: “They have one bad result (this season). It was against us in the EFL Cup at Craven Cottage. Of course, it’s a different scenario, a different league, they made some changes, but so did we,” he added, referring to the recent head-to-head results.

Tottenham and Fulham last met in the second round of the 2023-24 English EFL Cup at Fulham’s Craven Cottage in August. Tottenham took the lead through an own goal by Micky van der Penne, but were unable to hold on to a 1-1 tie until the 11th minute of stoppage time, when Hischalisson equalized. Without extra time, the match went to penalties. In a fateful penalty shootout, Fulham won 5-3. Tottenham suffered a shock exit in the second round of the EFL Cup.

Of course, Tottenham rotated heavily in that game, and if you look back at the starting lineup, you’ll see that it was Tosun, Giovanni Lo Celso, Ivan Perisic, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oliver Skip, Manor Solomon, Ben Davies, Van der Penn, Davinson 카지노 Sanchez, Emerson Royal, and Fraser Forster. Son Heung-min, James Maddison, Yves Bissouma, and Destiny Udoji, who have been part of the team’s recent rise, started the game off the bench.

Of course, the team is likely to go all out in this match. After eight rounds, Tottenham, who were sitting atop the league, dropped one spot to second after Liverpool caught Everton. A win today would put them back within three points of Liverpool.
