ANYANG ADVANCES TO EAST ASIAN SUPER LEAGUE BASKETBALL QUARTERFINALS WITH WIN OVER PHILIPPINES

Professional basketball team Anyang Kwanjang has advanced to the East Asian Super League (EASL) quarterfinals. The team defeated TNT Tropangiga (Philippines) 88-76 away in Group A of the 2023-2024 EASL on Thursday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig, Philippines. With three wins and two losses, Jeong Kwan-jang has clinched a spot in the quarterfinals regardless of the outcome of their remaining games .The defending EASL champions have one game remaining, away to Fubon (Taiwan) on February 7.

In Group A, the Chiba Jets (Japan) have clinched first place with a perfect 6-0 record, followed by Chung Kwan-Jang with 3-2, Fubon with 1-4, and TNT Tropangi with 1-5.Even if the Jets lose to Fubon, they will still secure second place in the group and advance to the quarterfinals. The Jets, who led 45-21 and 24 points early in the second quarter, allowed Tropangiga to chip away at their lead in the second and third quarters and were down by five points, 78-73, at the end of the fourth .However, Choi Sung-won’s corner three-pointer and Park Ji-hoon’s front-to-back mid-range shot restored the lead to 10 points, 83-73.

Choi Sung-won finished with 23 points on a tremendous shooting percentage of 7-for-7 from three-point range, while Robert Carter contributed 22 points and 14 rebounds.
