Women’s 16-man squad named for VNL…looking to end 27-game losing streak

The Korea Volleyball Association (KVA) on Thursday announced its women’s national team roster for the 2024 Volleyball Nations League (VNL).

The 16-player roster was selected by the Performance Improvement Committee after deliberating on the recommendations of new head coach Fernando Morales.

Setter Kim Da-in, libero Kim Yeon-yeon, middle blocker Lee Da-hyun, and outside hitter Jeong Jung-yoon, who were the mainstays of Hyundai E&C’s 2023-2024 V-League Women’s Division title, have earned the 메이저 토토사이트 Korean flag.

There are three setters, Kim Ji-won (GS Caltex) and Park Sa-ra (Pepper Savings Bank), and two liberos, including Moon Jung-won (Korea Expressway Corporation).

The middle blockers are Lee Joo-ah (Heungkuk Life), Jung Ho-young (Jungkwanjang), and Choi Jung-min (IBK), while the outside hitters are Kang So-hwi (GS Caltex), Park Jung-ah (Pepper Savings Bank), Lee So-young (Jungkwanjang), and Pyo Seung-ju (IBK).

The apogee positions were filled by Kim Da-eun (Heungkuk Life Insurance) and Lee Sun-woo (Jeong Kwan-jang).

The women’s team will begin their first training camp on July 15 at the Jincheon National Training Center in Chungcheongbuk-do. The team will compete in the VNL Qualifiers in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (May 14-19), Arlington, Texas (May 28-June 2) and Fukuoka, Japan (June 11-16).

Meanwhile, women’s volleyball has lost all 12 matches in the VNL for the second straight year. South Korea has lost 27 consecutive matches in the tournament and its FIVB world ranking has dropped to 40th.
