According to a report by Inside Asian Gaming, the Connecticut-based company has teamed up with its new colleague, Osidori International Development Godogasha, to participate in the latest Request for Proposal (RFP) phase of the plan to bring Las Vegas-style development to Nagasaki Prefecture.

Although most gambling is now illegal in Japan, former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s coalition government passed a bill in July 2018 authorizing about 126 million residents to three integrated casino resorts with hotels, exhibition facilities and a wide gaming floor. The company also hopes to premiere its huge Inspire brand development in Greece and South Korea before the end of the decade, and is now reportedly actively advancing as an operating partner in Nagasaki Prefecture.

Mario Kontomerkos, chief executive of Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment, used an official press release Wednesday to declare that his company was originally targeting Japan’s interest in the northern island of Hokkaido, but he then declared that the operator was forced to abandon the area and now develops a world-class resort to allow jurisdiction to become a “premium destination and top residential.”
