Ukraine, which is at war with Russia, has recorded its first win at Euro 2024.

Ukraine defeated Slovakia 2-1 in their Euro 2024 Group E second leg match at the Düsseldorf Arena in Düsseldorf, Germany, on June 21. It was Ukraine’s first win of the tournament after a 0-3 loss to Romania in the first round. Slovakia were coming off a 1-0 win over Belgium in the first leg, but were unable to repeat the feat.

Ukraine went down 1-0 to Schranz in the 17th minute of the first half. However, Shaparenko equalized nine minutes into the second half and Yaremchuk scored a late winner in the 35th minute to secure a dramatic victory.
