Scholes-Ferdinand frenzy → Man U. Are you kidding me

“Man United made a big mistake!”

The legends of English Premier League (EPL) club Manchester United (Man Utd) are firmly upset. They criticized United’s transfer policy on air, calling it a mistake. Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand, who, along with Park Ji-Sung, led United in their heyday in the 2000s, were among those who expressed their bitterness.

Scholes appeared on “TNT Sport” before the Manchester United-Bayern Munich 2023-2024 European Football Association (UEFA) Champions League Group A sixth leg match at Old Trafford in Manchester, England, on Sept. 13 (ET). He pointed out that United made two big mistakes in the transfer market last summer. They failed to sign players who would have helped the team.

The players he mentioned were Declan Rice and Harry Kane. Rice is currently at Arsenal and Kane is at Bayern Munich. ”If United had signed those two players, they would have had a strong squad, unlike now,” Scholes said strongly. ”They should have bought a goalkeeper,” he added. The Red Devils lost the battle for Rice and Kane, and have embraced Rasmus Hoilearn, Mason Mount, and Anthony, but they have not lived up to expectations. Freshman goalkeeper Andre Onana has been a source of concern with his frequent shaky performances.

Ferdinand, who also appeared on the show, echoed Scholes’ sentiments. ”Rice and Kane would have brought much-needed leadership to the United locker room,” he said, “I agree with Scholes. “I agree with Scholes that Rice and Kane would have brought much-needed leadership to the United locker room,” he said.

United lost 0-1 to Bayern Munich that day amid criticism from Scholes and Ferdinand. The Red Devils finished last in Group A of the Champions League group stage (round of 32) and failed to advance to the round of 16. They also missed out on the Europa League spot awarded to the third-place finisher in the group, completing their European club competition schedule for the season. Now it’s back to EPL action. On October 18, they will host Liverpool in the 17th round of the 2023-2024 EPL. The Reds are currently in sixth place, while United are in first. Most local media outlets are predicting a sweep for United.
