LIM HO-JIN, GOLD MEDAL IN MEN’S AIR PISTOL AT THE CAIRO SHOOTING WORLD CUP

Lim Ho-jin, emerging as a hope for men's pistols

Ho-jin Lim (23, KB Kookmin Bank) sounded the golden gun at the International Shooting Federation (ISSF) World Cup. Lim Ho-jin shot 241.9 points in the men’s 10m air pistol final on the first day of the 2024 ISSF World Cup Shooting Competition held in Cairo, Egypt on the 26th (local time), beating Samuil Donkov (Bulgaria, 241.7 points) by 0.2 points and winning the gold medal .This is Lim Ho-jin’s first individual gold medal in an international competition. In Korea, Lim Ho-jin and Lee Won-ho (KB Kookmin Bank) took 1st and 2nd place with 586 points and 584 points, respectively, and advanced to the finals.

While Won-ho Lee finished the final in 4th place, Ho-jin Lim stayed with Donkov until the end and continued competing for the gold medal. With only two shots left, Lim Ho-jin shot 9.6 points, beating Donkov, who had only 9.0 points, by 0.4 points and succeeded in turning the game around. Donkov, who shot the last shot first, shot 10.7 points, which was close to a perfect score, but Lim Ho-jin shot 10.5 points and won a dramatic victory with a total of 241.9 points over Donkov, who only scored 241.7 points.

Lim Ho-jin and Lee Won-ho, who made it to the finals on this day, are expected to be the pair to succeed Jin Jong-oh and Lee Dae-myung, who dominated the shooting pistol stage in the past. They raised expectations for the 2024 Paris Olympics to be held in July this year with an excellent record of mid-580 points in the finals. The men’s air pistol team has currently secured one spot for the Paris Olympics and will attempt to secure an additional spot at the Rio Games in Brazil in April. This year’s ISSF Cairo World Cup will feature 15 Olympic shooting events until the 31st, with 656 athletes from 66 countries participating.
