The Padres defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, 7-3, on Saturday (Sept. 16) at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.

It was the second straight win for the Padres, who defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-3 the day before. Kim got on base in his first at-bat and finished the day 1-for-3 with a home run, one RBI, one run scored, and two walks. It was his first hit in two games, and his season batting average improved slightly to 2-for-2 from 2-for-5.

Machado’s infield single scored another run for San Diego. After Profar grounded out, Kim drew a walk to load the bases. Merrill followed with a double to left-center, and Campusano’s single to left scored Kim, who was on second base, from third.

San Diego scored six runs in the fifth inning to take a 7-3 lead.

With the bases loaded and no outs in the top of the seventh inning, Kim hit an 83.8-mile-per-hour slider up and away from right-hander Thiago Vieira on the eighth pitch of the at-bat. He didn’t advance as the next pitch was hit by a pitch.

Kim’s final at-bat in the three-pitch game came in the ninth inning. After Machado flied out to center field, Profar singled to right. Kim hit a grounder to the shortstop to end the inning with Profar at the plate. With two outs, Merrill reached on an infield single and Kim stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error.

Merrill stole second to put runners on second and third, but Campusano grounded out to the second baseman to end the threat.

After the eighth inning, right-hander Stephon Kolek took the mound in the ninth and got two outs, with Robert Suarez getting the other.

With two outs in the ninth, he gave up an infield single to Oliver Dunn.
