Palestine to play Australia tomorrow in World Cup qualifier “with three players trapped in Gaza”

The war between Israel and Palestinian militant group Hamas is disrupting the Palestinian national soccer team’s schedule as it prepares to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in North and Central America, the Associated Press reported on Tuesday .According to Kuwaiti authorities, the World Cup regional qualifier between Palestine and Australia will be held in Kuwait on Sept. 21. The match was originally scheduled for the west bank of the Jordan River, but was moved to neutral Kuwait due to the war.

“We are supposed to train in Jordan, but three of our players have not returned from Gaza,” said Palestine coach Makram Daboub.”The players spend most of their time in hotels and buses looking at their cell phones to contact their families,” he said, adding that the ongoing attacks and war in Palestine have left them anxious. However, he was pleased with the team’s performance in a draw against Lebanon on Sept. 16, AP reported. “We sympathize with what’s going on,” Australian coach Graham 바카라사이트 Arnold said, “but a soccer game will bring a lot of joy to everyone.”
