Incheon United striker Park Seung-ho won the first “Seven Select Young Player of the Month Award” this season.

The “Seven Select Young Player of the Month Award” is given to the “Young Player” who performed the best in K League 1 every month.

Candidates are eligible for the K-League 1 player: ▲ Korean nationality, ▲ under the age of 23 (born after 2001) and not more than three years from the year in which he made his first appearance in an official K-League game (debut after the 2022 season). Players who meet the above three conditions and participate in more than half of the total game time of his team in the relevant month shall be selected as candidates. The final winner will be determined through discussions and voting by members of the Technical Research Group (TSG) under the Federation’s Technical Committee.

This year’s first Young Player award went to a total of four rounds from the first to the fourth rounds of the K-League 1 held in March. Five players including Park Seung-ho, Hong Yoon-sang (Pohang), Yang Min-hyuk (Gangwon), Hwang Jae-won (Daegu), and Kang Sang-yoon (Suwon FC) were nominated during the same period.

Among them, Park Seung-ho recorded the most playing time except for defender Hwang Jae-won, and earned the most votes from TSG members by scoring one goal against Ulsan in the third round and one assist against Daejeon in the fourth round.

Park Seung-ho, born in 2003, joined Deokyoung High School and Dankook University before making his debut as a professional in Incheon last year. He had an easy debut season by scoring one goal in nine games last year, and has improved by starting all games from the opening game this year.

Park Seung-ho, the “Seven Select Young Player of the Month” in March, will receive a trophy and prize money ahead of the Incheon vs. Daegu match at Incheon Football Stadium on the 14th.

Meanwhile, the Young Player of the Month award was newly established in 2021, and from this year, it will be called “Seven Select Young Player of the Month award” in partnership with Korea Seven Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Hong-chul). Seven Select is the own brand of 7-Eleven, a convenience store brand operated by Korea Seven.

Korea Seven sold K-League Panini cards exclusively through a business agreement with the Korea Professional Football Federation last year, and this year, it will sign a new partnership to carry out various businesses such as joint product production and pop-up stores for K-League fans.

An official from 7-Eleven said, “We confirmed the enthusiastic response of Korean soccer fans when we launched the K-League Panini Card last year, and this year, we will support the ‘Seven Select Young Player Award’. We will continue to work with the K-League to help more fans enjoy the K-League in abundance.” 스포츠토토
