For accurate officiating…2024 Professional Volleyball Referee Academy Graduates

The Korea Volleyball Organization (KOVO) held the 2024 Professional Volleyball Referee Academy for 10 days to improve referee expertise and foster new referees.

“The 2024 Referee Academy was held at Sangam Nuri Dream Square, Korean Air Practice Gymnasium and Suwon Youngsang High School from Feb. 2 to 11,” KOVO said on Wednesday.

Days 2 through 5 were devoted to theoretical training.

“Unlike previous lectures, the training was based on group discussions and presentations,” said KOVO. “The participants had lively discussions on various topics, including the standards for video review and the differences between FIVB rules and local rules in Korea. In addition to the group discussions, we also held a special lecture by an external lecturer to motivate and educate the referees.”

The practical training on days 6-11 consisted of hand and flag signaling training and actual match practice.

In the practice match, which was held with a high school volleyball team, referees were assigned to each set and self-evaluated after the match.

“In this academy, we introduced a discussion-style training to cultivate on-site coping skills,” said Choi Jae-hyo, the new chairman of the referee committee, “and we will strive to ensure smoother match operations next season.”

“In order to maintain the referees’ practical sense, we will send them to practice matches between clubs during the off-season,” said KOVO. “We will prepare for the successful operation of the 2024-2025 season, starting with the 2024 Tongyeong and Dodram Cup Professional Volleyball Tournament in September.” 토토사이트 순위
