Afterwards, Choi Sol-gyu communicated his intention to retire from the national team, and it was reported that it was judged that the effectiveness of the disciplinary action had disappeared.

An association official said, “Everyone agreed that as a national representative, we cannot help but sanction inappropriate behavior. We did not submit a retirement application (at the time), but considering the fact that we submitted a document stating that we will not participate in next year’s national team selection, we took separate measures.” “I didn’t do it,” he explained.

It was reported that Choi Sol-gyu did not attend training the next day after drinking alcohol during the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour Super 500 Korea Open in July of this year, and even brought his girlfriend to the national team’s dormitory.

An official from the association said, “We sent several requests to send the retirement application documents, but no official documents were received.”

Choi Sol-gyu participated in the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, which opened last September, and won a silver medal in men’s doubles.
