FC Anyang, promoted to the K League 1, vowed to win against FC Seoul.
At the ‘K League 2 Championship and Promotion Press Conference’ held at the Shinmunro Soccer Hall in Seoul on July 7, Anyang shared their feelings about winning the K League 2 title and promotion after 11 years and their goals in the 스포츠토토사이트 K League 1.
Anyang added one point with a draw against Bucheon FC in the K League 2 on the 2nd, securing the title and promotion with 18 wins, 8 draws, and 9 losses (62 points) regardless of the remaining games. Anyang, which has been in the second division since its inception in 2013, when the K League introduced the one-two division system, entered the top flight for the first time in 11 years.
“I’m really happy that my imagination has become a reality,” said coach Yoo Byung-hoon, who led Anyang to the title as a ‘rookie manager’. “Every season, we did well but missed opportunities. Even when we were doing well in the beginning of the season, we were evaluated as ‘a team that will go down anyway,’ so we made up our minds with the players,” he said, looking back on the past.
With a big goal of reaching the Final A, coach Yoo Byung-hoon mentioned the upcoming matchup with FC Seoul.
“It was the desire of the Anyang fans and all the citizens of Anyang to play a K League 1 match against Seoul at Anyang’s home,” Yoo said, adding, ”We want to play at least one match at Anyang’s home to release the frustration of the citizens of Anyang.”
In 2004, Anyang LG, the predecessor of Seoul, left Anyang for Seoul. Anyang soccer fans were furious at the sudden loss of their team. After nine years of struggle, Anyang was reestablished as a citizen club, and after 11 years, the team returned to the K League 1 to face Seoul.
